$300 billion. It sounds like a lot, but a small country like NZ will spend that sort of money without thinking about it, over a decade. It is beyond insulting to offer such a sum to compensate for the destruction of land, communities and livelihoods, the decimating of biodiversity, the salination of fresh water, the desertification of fertile land, in poor countries all over the world. Think how much it costs to build one "highway of National Importance", which will only add to the word of the planet. This is not cynicism, this is actually evil.
